Kings of the Rollers have been creeping into the drum and bass world and turning heads with their dark and filthy basslines since ‘Rave Alarm EP’ dropped in August 2018. Now, signed exclusively to Hospital Records, it’s come time for the birth of their self-titled debut album which is set to be released 26th of April this year. The first single, “You Got Me”, is out now and building quite a buzz for what’s to come from this super group consisting of Serum, Voltage, Bladerunner and Inja: Kings of the Rollers. Already topping charts with their last EP this release is sure to be a success yet the introductory track suggests it will be even more monstrous than expected.
“You Got Me” leaves some king-sized shoes to fill as the first tune to drop from this album. Cutting in like a slice of light in the darkest dark, leaving goosebumps on your skin and hairs raised this intro is power; eerily dark and mysterious. The suspense climbs while maintaining a soothing atmospheric vibe as a soft vocal echoes through perfectly paired with cymbal rolls and deep, crunchy horns blasting out the bass carving the way as emotion flows from every angle.
Better hold on at the drop or it’ll blow you away. Long, deep menacing horns run under a thick, wobbly bassline. The vocal is soft and comforting through the darkness, perfect placement for the duration it’s just the right amount to hold a vibe. The composition is complete with clean snares and perfect drum rolls in just the right places. “You Got Me” has a very modern bass sound with a classic jungle vibe running in the shadows. It’s a perfect blend of just the right flavors to complete this massive roller. This tune is straight fire guaranteed to erupt the dance floor and make the whole place bounce with the sinister vibe and definitely leaves us anxiously awaiting more!
