The announcement of Mefjus’s new album “Manifest” had all ears on deck last month. The D&B award winners long awaited next LP has been the diamond of many eyes all over the world. With a staggering SEVENTEEN tracks, we can only begin to imagine what audio insanity awaits us on the other side of the release date. This week in review, I feature the first single “Ringshifter”.
“Ringshifter” opens with a zoo of designed sounds. A tight signature Mefjus two step beat grooves you along to the first breakdown. Drowning bass stabs stagger as you approach the first dance section. A rowdy vocal sample strikes signaling dance floor madness. The bass and drums weave around each other, sometimes slightly out of time, creating a hypnotic groove that will have heads bobbing from the front row to the back of the room.
I don’t think I’ve ever witnessed so many desperate live cellphone audio recordings of fans all over the world. Assembling in online forums and social media communities to feverishly try and identify the new Mefjus material. “Ringshifter” has our feet wet and our ears begging for the rest of “Manifest” to see the light of day.
