Aries will make his first U.S. appearance next week at the Catch One Nightclub in downtown Los Angeles.
This event hosted by Killahurtz will showcase Aries alongside Liondub, RAW and APX-1 mixing a variety of rough and rugged jungle/drum and bass sounds.
Aries broke through to the A-list of the Jungle world after releasing music on legendary record labels like Congo Natty, Dread and V Recordings. In 2013, he co-founded Born On Road Records which explores musical boundaries across genres including Dancehall, Bashment, Reggae, and Jungle. In addition to solo work, Aries has many collaborations with other producers from Gold Dubs and Kelvin 373 to the Chopstick Dubplate crew. Chopstick Dubplate is the world’s first international Reggae Jungle sound crew fronted by himself, Jacky Murda and Tuffist.
Liondub is an authentic product of Brooklyn, his musical mindset was formed at the crossroads of major international bass vibrations originating from Jamaica, NYC, and the UK. Together with Marcus Visionary, one of Toronto Canada’s leading drum and bass DJs, Liondub co-founded Liondub International. The label is focused on bass-heavy music using original reggae music as its foundation and has released over 500 tracks representing artists from around the world. Consequently, the “Liondub Street Series” sub-label showcases a wide variety of young and upcoming international artists from a multitude of genres.
Also, RAW and APX-1 will be performing on this night. Both of these dons are highly regarded for tirelessly pushing the West Coast Jungle sound for decades now.
UPDATE: Just added to the lineup, Chemistry MC will be hosting the night. Chemistry is widely respected for his rhythmic and soulful vocal style. His unique sound has earned him residencies at YESKA Beatz Unltd, Resinate, and High Order.
The second room of the event features House music headed up by Valida alongside Sha Sha Kimbo, Bubblewrappe, and Zelduh.
Valida can be heard on-air on KCRW (89.9 FM) in Los Angeles on rotating Sundays on their program, The Lab. Each Wednesday at The Standard Hollywood, she curates an intimate evening of live music called Desert Nights, her homage to the 60’s Laurel Canyon culture.
Killahurtz is a Drum & Bass night that was started by Seebass and is held at Catch One Nightclub in Los Angeles. The event takes place on Friday, February 21st, 2020 from 10pm-2am at 4067 West Pico Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90019.
