Bad District – Empathy (Bad Taste Recordings)

Bad District unveils a behemoth project on Bad Taste Recordings. Hailing from Russia Bad District has a started out no holds barred with their recent project. 5 tunes with diverse explorations into the darker realms of DNB and Halftime. Lets check out my favorite cut from the EP.

Empathy starts out with a deep and atmospheric ocean of thickly layered ambience with an otherworldly vibe. The tension begins to grow from the second phrase as metallic synths wind up the tune before delving into a tribal esque march of slowed halftime percussion elements sprawling into a bio mechanical being as they progress along into the tune building a alien soundscape before backing away to build into the drop. Empathy drops into a quickly stepping and rolling tune with a beefy bassline to back up its carefully programmed percussive elements and whimsical synths.

This is one of those vibey tunes that can really take a set to a special place and is a must have for selectors who delve into the more moody cuts. Big up Bad District on this one!
