Drum & Bass brethren rejoice. The long awaited new album from Black Sun Empire “The Wrong Room” is poised for release in just a few short days. With a track list of napalm front to back, the LP is sure to get rinsed throughly throughout the rest of this year and into the next. The album is a fine testament to the current state of darker DNB, forward thinking but still accessible. The track “Immersion” is a huge standout for me. A moody selection a step away from Black Sun’s usual smash and grab dance floor approach.
“Immersion” opens into a dreamy soundscape. Layers of synths sway through the measures with percussive elements adding until the introduction of the vocal. “How does it feel? I’ll Never let you go” rings out hauntingly as the synths swell into a pulsing rhythm around the drums. Mid range elements buzz throughout the layers of the track as various melodic elements are introduced through the measures. Effortless yet precise tension builds beautifully through the track.
The LP has been a long time coming, but it’s sounding to be more then worth the wait. Black Sun Empire is sure to shake the charts top to bottom with an album chalked full of top quality material. “The Wrong Room” will be available in its entirety this Friday the 31st.
