Culprate – Dawn [Bandcamp]

0

Mad scientist of bass and all around general badman Culprate is here to bless your speakers of choice with a new EP. The title track “Dawn” is a master piece of precise production. The Neruofunk sound has been evolving in leaps and bounds, many tracks finding strength in complexity and busily written composition. “Dawn” is an absolute dance floor killer and finds its power and diversity in its simplicity.

“Dawn” opens with a cinematic sci-fy laden soundscape, putting you in an intergalactic space age setting. The glitched out vocal stabs and building cinematic elements build you up to the first drop. Entering the first dance section the track is stripped down to a powerful yet simple stretching bassline. Drum breaks at the end of the measures give the track hard and abrasive elements that play on the overall darker feel of the tune. The glitched vocals are continually reapplied building tension throughout the course of the the track.

“Dawn” is a huge step away from the tend I have been hearing with tracks as of late. The reactions I have personally witness playing this one out have spoken volumes. I’m looking forward to this one being a staple in my sets for months to come. What other materiel remains to be seen from Culprate for 2017? Keep him on your radar to see what he blesses the dance with next.
