Dunk & Rebel – Decoding Cypher EP – Dirtbox Recordings

by | Sep 5, 2025 | Releases, Tunes

Yo, yo, YO!  It’s Strex here back with another article on a Friday to tickle your weekend tastebuds.

We have a nice little 3-part EP on Dirtbox Recordings from Dunk & Rebel, what a great duo we have here who have come together to bring us something pretty awesome!

First up we have Cypher.  This one is a naughty little roller which comprises brilliantly produced samples and a rolling beat that really gets your toes tingling.  Got some nice old school flavour to it, while keeping it modern and to the point.  Cracking start to this EP.

Next up we have The Deadlights.  This one starts with a chilling intro which gives you atmosphere for days before putting a dirty little beat to tantalise you, almost sounding like it was dragged kicking and screaming from the Barcode era.  When it gets you to the drop, it’s chunky, it’s rolling and it’s downright disgusting.  Really liking this one.

Lastly we have Karma.  This one is a solo effort by Dunk.  It’s is a tune that gives you a sense of impending doom as it trickles along the intro before providing you with a bit of comfort in a beat.  Once the tune drops you are met with a gritty roller that is almost minimalist but it still gives you plenty to be getting on with.  A decent tune!

This one is a cracking EP and another way for Dirtbox to show off their skills at finding some real talent.  Dunk & Rebel show us who’s boss here by giving us some serious head nodders.

As usual, click the banner at the top or the artwork below for the buy links!  This one is out today, the 5th September.

Absolute D&B nut! Love any type of Drum & Bass really but Neuro is my main passion. I got into D&B back in around 2004 where I started going raving, I then discovered heavier D&B in the form of Renegade Hardware nights in London which I attended almost every one for several years. Having developed my listening style with how the music has evolved I love the freshest tunes as well as the old ones! I've been mixing for fun since around 2005 and just love playing in front of people and sharing the music with likeminded people.
