Glitch City – Wonderland EP – Dirtbox Recordings

How are we all doing out there in the Best Drum and Bass World?  

Strex here with a new article about a release on the mighty Dirtbox Recordings from Glitch City who has had a few releases on the label now.  This one is a wicked 4-part EP which is a no holds barred assault of heaters.

First up we have “Down the Rabbit Hole” which kind of has a mysterious intro, you could almost feel a bit Alice in Wonderland which the title of the EP suggests. When the tune drops it is a frantic affair with soundbites from Alice in Wonderland but it’s energetic and bouncy and really gets you vibing with it.  A really interesting tune that shows from the outset what Glitch City is capable of.

The next track on this wonder-ful EP (see what I did there? ;))  is Land of the Noble, this one drops with a really cool high bass which drives you through with a wicked crashy beat, it’s definitely the sort of tune that gets stuck in your head.  It even has elements which remind me old J Majik tunes.  A really well crafted tune here.

The third installment of this EP is Tuff Nutts which has a filthy jump up beat that is bordering neuro and another high bass which swings across you and gives you that Glitch City sound that you’ve heard before, a warming and comforting familiar sound that also tears you a new one!  Wicked vibes, especially when this tune breaks down into the mystical sounds before the breakdown.

Lastly we have Hypnotize which samples the epic Notorious B.I.G track and turns it into a big jump up slammer that is filled with wicked sound effects and wobble for days.  The track is wicked and the subtle nod to the legendary Hip-Hop star is a great touch.
