Playaz Recordings is known for delivering top notch Jump Up style Drum and Bass. Their sister label New Playaz and newest signing, Jam Thieves, are no different. The Brazilian siblings come out swinging on the EP’s title track “City On Fire”, the eerie atmospheric sounds dropping into a roller that is sure to cause havoc in your local dance. Keeping up the pressure, things keep on rolling into “The Ghetto”. If you like a proper nasty crowd reaction, this is one track you want to keep in your arsenal.
The second half of the EP are where brothers Guilherme and Neto really start to shine, blending the best from both Neurofunk and Jump Up. “Hustler” will be sure to have the crowd stepping, the rolling bass and raspy accent synths lead into a Neuro-inspired switchup full of energy and filthy bass modulation. Last, but certainly not least, we have a SERIOUS little number called “Alcatraz”. This entire EP has been filled with deep bass, crispy shuffled drums, and rude bass tones; the ending to a great release is no different.
This is a GIANT piece of work from Jam Thieves, fresh off a 10-track release on Serial Killaz Recordings to the mighty Playaz camp. Hats off to Guilherme and Neto, we can’t wait to see what these two badboys have in store for the future.
You can purchase this on iTunes or directly from Playaz.
