Krakota – Ice Hands

Some things in life surprise you. Future Prophecies stunning September, and how utterly unlike any of their previous evil and angry music it was. The ever increasing price of chocolate. The popularity of Michael Bay.

Krakota’s latest release on Hospital Records, Ice Hands, surprised me. Kicking off with an intro of airy effects and synth plucks that put me in mind of the classic Quiet Star by Cyantific, the track then takes a sudden turn for the darker, with growling basslines and insane amen laced breaks. More reminiscent of Barcode than of Hospital, this is one of those tunes that scares small children, and will put a smile on many a raver’s face.

It’s a quality release all round too, with an equally strong yet far more subtle roller of a B side in the shape of Ghosts.

All in all, a 5 star offering from Krakota, and a fine follow up to his last Hospital release, Xylo b/w Irregular, back in October.

Catch Ice Hands/Ghosts in digital form from Junodownload and Beatport, or buy directly from the Hospital shop where you can also cop the rather sexy ice blue vinyl.
