Louder Than Words – The Hidden – Lee UHF – Dirtbox Recordings

Howdy D&B Fans!  Strex here with a new project from the Dirtbox Recordings camp.  This one is called Louder Than Words and the first single in this release series is called The Hidden.

The series will feature drum and bass artists from around the world, with each artist contributing one track that represents their sound and connection to the culture.

Every track will be produced specifically with the project in mind. The focus is on music with genuine emotion, meaning and intent, rather than tracks selected simply to fill a release schedule.
Each release will have its own story and offer something personal from the artist behind it. The original inspiration for Louder Than Words came from its artwork and visual direction.
The design takes influence from American conceptual artist and collagist Barbara Kruger, whose work is recognised for combining black and white photography with bold white text placed inside red blocks. Her style has had a lasting influence on modern design, street art, skate culture and streetwear, including the visual identity associated with the brand, Supreme.
The project will explore themes including consumerism, business, urban landscape, greed, power, gender, identity and politics. These ideas will run through both the music and its visual presentation.

To accompany the meaning behind each track, Louder Than Words will create boldly graphic artwork that places striking images alongside song titles presented as provocative, declarative statements. The aim is to stop people, grab their attention and encourage them to look more closely at the message behind each release.

As with the main Dirtbox Recordings label, Louder Than Words will cover the full spectrum of drum and bass. There will be no restriction on style or subgenre, but every track must have something special behind it and fit the meaning of the project.

Individual releases will be available digitally, with selected tracks brought together on compilation albums released on vinyl and CD several times throughout the year.

Music will not be the only focus of Louder Than Words. The series will also include original designs and photography created by Matthew Williams and Lee Ambler. These pieces will be printed as a clothing collection accompanying each release, connecting the music with art, photography and street culture.

Louder Than Words marks a new chapter for Dirtbox Recordings and adds another branch to the label’s growing framework.
