Magnetude – Snatch [RAM Records]

I’ve had my eye on Magnetude since long before their first release. When badmen James Overtech & Rusty K announced the project, it got ears turning immediately. The guys have championed several high profile labels, quickly landing their latest EP on the mighty Ram Records. “Snatch” if the type of tune that provokes curiosity from the first note. Cleanly executed, forward thinking ideas abound in Magnetude’s latest DNB heist.

“Snatch” opens with a cheeky jazz soundscape fit for your next casino heist. The groove anchors in with a slapping halftime beat that builds towards the first dance section. The brilliant use of a flute riff sits in an uncomfortably appropriate place, building the vibe further. The dance section hits like a freight train. Crushing bass tears and rips through the measures. A symphony of sound elements cohesively elevate the vibe to heights not commonly achieved in the Drum & Bass arena.

Magnetude has continued to impress from EP to EP. Their productions are miles above the bar and allow the community to see DNB in ways not previously imagined. What waits for us around the bend with Magnetude? Keep your ears locked to find out.
