One of our goals on the Best Drum and Bass team is to shed some light on all the great things happening in the world of US drum and bass– including local events. If you’re on the East Coast, you may want to note what’s coming in your calendar. It’s not often that we see drum and bass at the big venues, but on June 18th, Washington DC will be seeing a small show of show of epic proportions hosted at Soundcheck, one of the areas finest.
This Father’s Day from the hours of 9 PM to 3 AM, the jointefforts of The Milkbox, Mushmouth Media, Glow, and Cybergrove AM come together to create a show that will bring music from 5 of the worlds greatest labels, and local support hailing from Richmond, Virginia to New York City all together under one very sleek roof. Washington DC is pretty blessed with drum and bass– BADAss Raves, 3D Productions, Elm Imprint, Subsdance, Transit, Depth Perception and more local strongholds have a strong history of helping to keep drum and bass alive in the DMV– but the area is set to receive a newcomer that’s dedicated to the cause.
The Milkbox is a young promotional company that will launch off by bringing neurofunk legends Current Value and Mob Tactics to the city for the very first time– and are the only company to bring the pair to the East Coast this summer.
Local support comes from all over the East Coast, starting with Lokshot & Nvrsoft– the boy & girl wonder hailing from NYC and DC on direct dancefloor support. The brothers Fringe travel from Richmond to start the night with a MC’d set of their own, and DC newcomer Dr. Mike will close out the night with a surprise. The event will also feature table service, and a custom drink menu– two cocktails and one shot, named and themed around the artists and the Milkbox company.
