Hello readers, it’s Monday so I’m back, El Conquistador, to show you a little something something I found last week! We are gonna talk about MJD and this new track called Cytokine that is out on MJD:R. Now, unfortunately I cannot find a whole lot on this MJD or the label MJD:R. The way they write the date on what I could find online tells me [they, he, she?] are European or somewhere other then the US. The link to the MJD:R Facebook page is below. What I can tell you is this track is solid!
Cytokine has the feel of an old school stepper track with the new distorted neuro basslines we all come to love. The beat gives this track a dark feel to it and I love it. There is this deep, dark vocal that comes in and out from time to time that adds to the dark feel of this track. The mid point is nice, it builds very well and like many techstep tracks the mid point is quick and not dragged out. You get these highs in the mid point that give the track a different layer for just a measure and it makes you think it might go in a different direction for the second half then it drops into that solid bassline and dark beat again.
Overall I enjoyed this track. I like the dark aspect of it and that bassline is catchy. I feel as DJs find and hear this track they will want to use it. I also think if a neurofunk producer gets their hands on it a real killer remix will come out of their studio. Well done MJD and the MJD:R crew…whomever you might be! (work on your internet presence my dudes!!)
