Molekular & Basic Forces [Test Press Audio]

by | Jan 9, 2017 | Tunes

So now that the craziness of the holidays is over, all the top 10 lists and year-end summaries have all been written and read, its time to move on to 2017 and all the wonderful music we will see this year. To start things off, we have the newest release from Test Press Audio, released on the very first day of the year. It’s a two track release featuring two different artists.

First up is “Cos I” from Molekular. The first thing that came to mind when I heard this track is “funky”. The drum work is straight forward, with an older Audio Couture feel to it, but the star of the show is that funky ass bass work. It seems to defy genre and style of your typical drum and bass track. There are flavors of electro, early hip hop, and hints of tech step bass. It’s a very very welcome break from the cold, soulless metallic bass sound that seems to be running rampant in todays drum and bass.

The second track is Basic Forces “Trust”. This offering from the labels head honcho is a perfect pairing to the other track on this release, and my favorite of the two tracks. It would be my guess that he has had some influence from the likes of Marcus Intalex, S.T. Files , Carlito, and Addiction from the sounds of it. This is another track with some unique bass sounds, great pads, soulful keys and vocal hints. This one rolls out and weaves a sexy, funky sonic tapestry in its wake.
