It is not your traditional syncopation of beats but I’ll be damned if it is not a liquid one. Truly on the deeper side of things with this two track ep, the Dutch boys over at Newcaise being curators of the sound at the age of 15 years is absolutely remarkable. We at BestDNB cannot let you pass up a single STAT digital, and there is a reason for it.
For myself at least tunes like “Take Part” with what I would consider non-traditional or otherwise obscure drum arrangements give me anxiety. The first drop is at an odd thirty-three seconds in, making you put in the work to give this a rinse. Foreground vocals with ambient background atmos give you an intimate bone chilling feeling, the soul searching vibe that you do not get from most sub-genres of the drum and bass jungle spectrum.
These two really love bringing in those odd-timed intros. Don’t bother me none when the tune is this good. “One Second Before Midnight” quite literally makes this release for me. I am a fan of the vocals on the previous tune, but this track right here is all things good about a healthy roller. I mention healthy at times when talking about liquid drum and bass because compared to the heavier sides of sound where vaguely crude remarks are positive critiques. In a sense I believe that healthy is the perfect way to describe sound that is not meant for drawn elbows, or fist pumps or even moshing. It’s for the dancers, the lovers and head-nod crew who likes things on the deep end. I would keep my eye out for these two if I were you, they are half your age… probably half your size and will find their niche before you know it.
