Omen – Bend / Arrival – HUMAN IMPRINT

Howdy DnB heads!  Strex here bringing you announcement of another amazing release into the darker Drum & Bass world.

I have a lot of time for Dieselboy, back in 2004 a friend of mine recommended Project Human to me as a good DnB CD to buy when I was just really getting into it and I absolutely loved it and bought all his other releases so as soon as I hear there’s something on Human Imprint, my ears automatically prick up.

This one is from an artist from the Bay Area called Omen and as soon as you stick the first track, Bend on you know it’s going to be a good one.  With a futuristic yet classic sound to it which has both rough and smooth elements, you are taken through the intro which slaps some nasty amens to you every half bar.  When it drops it has some beautiful bongos in the background while still retaining that amen break which compliments the smooth rolling bass line.  A really wicked tune that takes me back to the old skool.  The second drop even manages to slip a small amount of half-time in which is a nice touch and then when it returns to 170bpm it adds more spicy drums.

Next up is the flipside tune Arrival.  This one is a more mellow affair with some cool vocals which are beautiful but sinister at the same time.  These vocals lead you nicely to the drop which has some distorted bass but lands you perfectly into a smooth bass and quality synth with that gritty bass coming back every now and then as if it’s haunting you.  Superb track and it’s great to have such a variety in pieces on a 2 track single.

Absolute D&B nut! Love any type of Drum & Bass really but Neuro is my main passion. I got into D&B back in around 2004 where I started going raving, I then discovered heavier D&B in the form of Renegade Hardware nights in London which I attended almost every one for several years. Having developed my listening style with how the music has evolved I love the freshest tunes as well as the old ones! I've been mixing for fun since around 2005 and just love playing in front of people and sharing the music with likeminded people.
