Outrage – Awoken EP – Brainrave Music

by | Mar 6, 2024 | Tunes

What’s happening Neuro Fans!  Got a wicked one this week to bring to your beautiful ears!

This one is from Brainrave Music – a label which has been pushing boundaries lately to bring you some awesome Neurofunk which steers more towards the classic Neuro sound, almost in the Tech Step era of DnB and we welcome it!  Its almost refreshing to hear music that helped pioneer the sound that we love today.

This release from Outrage is their first under this new moniker, having reviously released on labels such as Metalheadz, Ram and Function Records.

So first up on this single by Outrage we have the title track, Awoken with it’s really atmospheric intro that really gets the creep factor going, you can just imagine being in The End Club in London at a Renegade Hardware night at the start of a set, losing yourself in this intro in the dark basement that was possibly the best club to have ever existed (My opininon!)   With a really nice gritty reece that almost sounds like it has some inspiration from the old Calyx tunes.  Such a decent tune!

Next up we have a tune called Figure of Eight which has a really suble intro that for some reason reminds me of the Terminator movies, with radio communication laced over the top.  When this tune drops it has a really gruff and distorted old school flavour which as mentioned before, is a welcome addition in today’s releases.  A wicked track which could be played alongside the classics and with the new stuff just as easily.

So this release is fitting for Brainrave Music and for anyone who love the sounds of legacy Drum & Bass and need more of that flavour in their ears these days and a great stepping stone for those who want to discover the roots of the industry.  It also appears we can expect more from Outrage later this year so keep your ears peeled!

Released on the 8th March 2024 you can find how to pre-order by clicking the artwork below:

Absolute D&B nut! Love any type of Drum & Bass really but Neuro is my main passion. I got into D&B back in around 2004 where I started going raving, I then discovered heavier D&B in the form of Renegade Hardware nights in London which I attended almost every one for several years. Having developed my listening style with how the music has evolved I love the freshest tunes as well as the old ones! I've been mixing for fun since around 2005 and just love playing in front of people and sharing the music with likeminded people.
