Pandaemonium – Bomb Squad EP [ Zomboss ]

Pandaemonuim brings the sound to make you freak out!!

This past week was the unveiling of the first release off the Eatbrain sub-label “Zomboss“. Coming out of the dugout, first inning with a walk off home run, is the one like Pandaemonium (the alliance of GEXAN and RAIDO). With a three track EP called “Bomb Squad“. This double dose of heat couldn’t be a more calculated and bulletproof way to launch new imprint. Within the first 45 seconds of this hitting my subs. It was known they are not fucking around.

The first cut & title track “Bomb Squad” opens up the pit with a cinematic intro. Creating tension with tempo and taiko style drum hits from the jump. Laced with vocal lines that command authority and a rising crescendo. That hurls you to the edge, before pushing you off the cliff into an abyss of bone crushing basslines & snares mimicking Thors hammer. Directly to the teeth. Hot dame this tune must be what it’s like to throw your nuts on a table, and hear a group of humans go ” Oh My! “.

The next landmine on the record is the track “Heavenly Breakdown” . A duppy & drunk banger that takes the piss out of that skank style stutter step business. First introduced 20 years ago as clownstep, but reimagined today from a DAW infected by demons. This one chomps at the bit to be unleashed at full volume. Tearing through speakers with reckless abandon and uncut chaos. If the wraith of girth were a sound. It would be this song.

Lastly, we have the ender to end all enders. “Dust” is the fucking truth! This tune is packed with every hype and beastly element imaginable. It manages to unpack all elements of dark dnb neuro roller history. Into 3 minutes and 41 seconds worth of sonic derailment. When it actually lands at full strength, it lives up to its title. Turning your ears and the speaker cones into dust. This one got me feeling some shit. As I had a bit of emotions arise from hearing something that reminded me of why I love this style of dnb so much. Dust is the song you play at the end of a set. Walking away a bonified hero. Knowing the party only goes downhill after you pull the usb from the dock.

I love, love, love this release. Not to fanboy out at all. But I’ve always had a soft spot for all things Eatbrain. My hope is Zomboss becomes a sub-label that feeds us the more aggressive and darker side of neurofunk. The stuff that is “too gnarly” then its more tech and funk driven neuro daddy. The Pandaemonium project should keep growing and take the reins given up by the late and great Bad Company. We need a deep dark super group to infiltrate the mainstream dnb dancefloor. Something to counter balance all the harm groups like Worship do to a genre that is struggling from an apparent identity crisis. And an extreme lack of intensity coming from people whose sole purpose is to impact their bank account, not to inspire a movement.
