Philth – Earth [Peer Pressure Records]

by | Apr 4, 2016 | Tunes

One of the things I have always liked about and enjoyed in Philths music is the cinematic feeling it has. The way he can transform a song into something that feels just at home on a dance floor as it does on a movie soundtrack. His latest EP on his own Peer Pressure Records is another perfect example of this. All of the tracks are varied and unique to themselves but are at the same time cohesive as one full offering that tells the story of the 4 elements in cinematic fashion.

My personal favorite on this EP is the track Earth. The sense of urgency in the woman’s vocals meeting the simplistic and refined drums is balanced with the soft keys that sound like they could have come out of any This Mortal Coil album is enough to win me over. Then there is the deep, sublime sub bass of the track. It sounds as if it is coming up all the way from the earth’s core. This one needs, if not demands to be played on a proper system.
