Newcomers to the Drum and Bass scene Pola & Bryson get the summer heated up with their new album “This Time Last Year”. New or not to the scene one things for certain that this dynamic duo is not new to quality. Every tune off their album really gives you some insight on their project. All 15 Tracks on the LP are breathtaking holding nothing back on the table. These boys are definitely making waves in the Drum and Bass community and for good reason. This is the future of Drum & Bass.
Under the microscope today is “Devil” a tune off their new album which strays away from the more melodic and liquid cuts from the album. They have made a wicked jungle tune that immediately caught my attention when i heard Friction on Radio 1 play it. Devil starts off with quick and taught percussion playfully filling the soundscape with bouncy vibes. A modern twist on classic rave piano sounds enters the track building up tension into the vocal sample. The drop is met with classic jungle breaks and panning percussion with a bassline that fills the room with proper dancing vibes. Time stretched “JUNGLISTTT” can be heard in one of the fills before quickly entering back into the tune.
Overall this tune is one of my favorite cuts off the album being a very versatile tune for DJ’s but it was very hard to choose with of how high caliber each track was. Meticulously crafted music at its finest. I urge everyone reading this to check this one out and give Soulvent Records a checking out aswell. Strictly high quality beats.
