Today I’m going to be reviewing 2 sample packs from Romanian producer Proton Kid.
With over 15 years of activity, he signed and released numerous tracks over the years at labels such as PRSPCT, Future Sickness, Ex Machina, T3K, Mindocracy, Kinetik, Perkussiv and many others.
Currently he is retired from DJing, but still produces those nasty bangers!
Techo dnb sample pack 1
The first pack consists of drum shots, drum loops, pads and synth fxs. Each folder is filled with
some really great tools to start building hard hitting music immediately. Everything is well labelled, and
most of the musical sounds tell you the key of the sound as well as the BPM, which is a massive plus.
I also really like the fact the drum loops are broken up into individual elements like percussion,
kick and snare and tops. This gives you more control to design your own loops as well as effecting
different sections as best suits.
The sounds are pretty processed already so they are pretty good to go straight into your project.
I would say there is still a bit of room to add your own fxs as well but if you wanted to make something
directly with them you could do that. My favourite part of this pack was the synth section as the sounds
are really unique and potentially quite difficult to make yourself. The drum sounds are also super punchy
and varied. The bass section has some fat sonics and nice percussive elements. Overall a really solid pack with lots of scope for creating drum n bass and a few other genres within the realms of tech and neurofunk.
Techno dnb pack 2
In pack 2 we are greeted with folders for basses, bonus beats, drum shots, drum loops, pads and sfx.
Everything yet again is well placed and labelled within its individual folder. The beats and loops are really strong and nicely processed. The sfx and sequencer section is super unique and there are some really inspiring song starters in there which I think is always a great asset to have in a sample pack. The bass loops are punchy and dirty with lots of movement and funk about them. The drum sounds are punchy and well put together as well.
Overall another unique and inspiring sample pack which will give you some great tools to create those heavy tech drenched drum n bass tunes. As with pack 1 these sounds could be used within other genres of dnb and electronica. Check out the links below and grab a copy of these packs at Bandcamp.
