Proxima – Jibber [Plasma Audio]

0

I’ll be honest here and say I’ve never heard of Proxima before–or Plasma Audio for that matter–but holy shit, now I do.  “Jibber” plays out like something straight off a Mefjus or Fourward EP, and without seeing the artist tag I probably would have assumed it was.  Flaunting impeccable production and otherworldly sound design, the introduction is a half-time dream for most drum and bass heads.  Albeit a bit long, the introduction is so impressive it never seems to drag on, and what follows is absolutely savage.  After 2 minutes and 15 seconds the song abandons the more-than-impressive half-time showcase and switches gears to a fierce and fast-paced onslaught.  Every 32 bars the song continues to build on pre-existing rhythms, as Proxima effortlessly develops his vision, constantly teasing the listener with new sounds and directions.  Overall the song is extremely diverse, never sticking to an idea for too long; with constant changes to the drop and tempo, it’s the kind of track you listen to from front to back without ever feeling like the artist just copy-pasted the second drop.

I give the song an 8/10 and really hope this release put Proxima on the map for other drum and bass producers and listeners alike.
