I was packing up to head out to Vancouver for the week and remembered I had to get a review in, and since I am planning on grabbing at least a coffee with Mr. Psidream, and his latest release came out today on Onset Audio, it just made sense to feature the sounds of “Daze”
This veteran Vancouver based producer is as prolific as one can be with over 30 releases to his credit on some of the best labels in the game. His newest one, which he teamed up with long time production partner Pacific on, is “Daze” and it is a doozy.It starts out with some great atmospherics and adds in some soul and funk inspired beats and vocal samples. From there it just builds in true Psidream and Pacific style. Layers of percussion, a walking bass line dripping with funk that reminds me of some of his older work on Breakbeat Science. This one is guaranteed to cause spontaneous ass shaking and head nodding by most who hear it. This one will be in the crate for some time to come no question!
