Alan Watts and Tech Step. An odd match for sure. At first it would seem as they would not go together. After your first listen you will understand the sweet and sour effect of mixing Alan Watts with Tech Step. A feeling of ease comes with the introductory monologue of Watts. Then a movement to into the first break brings irony and dichotomy. Resolving into a glitchy synth wasteland of a dark future. As a result; a grim landscape, barren of human life, and showing a cold intelligence is painted for the listener. But, not all hope is lost.
This is a great tune to move from dark Liquid DnB into Tech Step or Neuro Funk. Perfect for evolving playlists or DJ sets alike. I am impressed with the unique feel and production of this song. Coming with so many evolving synths and a punchy synth bassline. Synth drums add to the melencholy of the track. Coming back to the speech from Alan Watts returns you to a place of safety. Even if your safe but for 32 bars of music before being returned to a broken future landscape in the second break. Rido – Beyond packs a lot of dance floor vibes and keeps it very interesting for listening on your commute to work.
As a personal note, I have played this tune at least 30 times! It’s in my crate over at Beatport. I am looking forward to playing this in my next live remix set. I wonder how much more despotic it will sound with beat repeats and looping done in a live set?
Shouts and Big ups to Rido and Blackout Music for this outstanding release.
