SKELLYTN DROPS DANCE FLOOR MAGIC WITH PLAY ME
This week marked a new chapter for stateside dnb producer, Skellytn . A collaboration with Elend Winthrop is prepped to end festival season with a bang. The newest release “Feel Alive” dropped via Play Me records on September 4th. A single that signals a new chapter coming from this upcoming producer.
Skellytn has spent the last few years building her reputation amongst the darker and heavier neurofunk community. With previous releases on Eatbrain , Darkshire & Cyclops records. With the majority of her catalog coming from Reid Speed‘s Play Me and DeadMau5‘s mau5trap label. Where she has had a great deal of support and mentorship from the industries most successful entities. Which can explain quick rise to huge stages with Subtronics, AndyC, Reaper, Zeds Dead, Pendulum, BoogeyT & Justin Hawkes. Teaming up with TheStraightEdgeGroup management to become a staple in the world of Insomniac/Bass Rush level shows across the country.
Feel Alive is a sensible mainstream banger. Leaning into the same structure and sound design as the most successful festival grade tunes of the last few seasons. All of the elements of this song play well with each other. The drums are not too overcomplicated or too overwhelming in the mix. The lead vocal by Elend is hopeful and kind, but with a subtle mid range delivery. There is subdued and rich rolling basslines, and a touch of crunchy reece, distorted guitar and neuro influenced risers.
The first section of the tune lays down very familiar and pop culture dnb vibes from the realms of Muzz, Subfocus and AndyC. Once we get past the second drop. We dive straight into the realms of those techno/peaktime trance 4×4 hybrids moments that are all the rage right now. Is it dnb? Is it techno? Is it trance? Who cares, it’s a vibe, and it sells.
This track nails the important elements of sculpting a widely successful rave banger in 2026. It has perfect sound design and mastering. The composition and arrangement is easy to grasp and have fun with. Nothing is too complicated or over-produced. It’s easy to mix, easy to listen to, pumps a sound system properly, and is just fun.
