Welcome, we share with you our latest interview with Skrimor and Kryptodemic on their newest collaborative track Animals. The skilled artists talk about their natural work flow, a shared vision in their collaboration, and their ability to put arrangements together they believe resonates with listeners.

Your rise to prominence has been swift. What key factors do you think contributed to your rapid success in the drum and bass scene?

Skrimor: Firstly, thank you for having us. I would have to say that working hard and staying focused are very big factors. I feel that the key to long-term success is choosing a direction you’re truly passionate about. And one that aligns with your authentic self. Find a unique identity in what you do. Don’t be afraid to experiment and evolve along the way. I feel that when you pursue something you genuinely believe in, that authenticity will resonate with others. People can sense passion and sincerity. And that’s the connection that will help you stand out in a crowded world. Always stay dedicated, trust the process, and let your individuality shine.

How has your experience with labels like Eatbrain, C4C, and Neuropunk helped shape your sound?

Skrimor: I’d say every label has its own unique perspective on a music direction. Real growth often happens when you receive genuine feedback from the label. Constructive criticism is essential for improvement, as it helps fine-tune your craft. In my opinion, having good communication with labels is one of the best ways to foster progress and achieve meaningful development. Labels often challenge producers to think outside the box. That which can be both stimulating and, at times, even humorous. Embracing these challenges not only sharpens your skills but also builds resilience and adaptability. All are essential traits I believe that any artist should be aiming for to have longevity in this industry.

What specific qualities in your music as a new artist on the rise tie you with Evolution Chamber?

Skrimor: What I really like about Evolution Chamber is the creative freedom they provide. And allowing me to experiment with both dancefloor-focused tracks and Neurofunk. All while having their full support throughout the process. This level of trust and encouragement is invaluable, and allows me to set personal challenges to create something that’s main-stage friendly—while still staying true to the label’s heritage and signature sound. Striking that balance is both exciting and creatively rewarding, pushing me to constantly evolve as an artist.

You’re widely recognised as one of the most active lyricists in Drum & Bass. Recently, your output seems to have slowed down—can you share what’s influenced this?

Kryptomedic: Thank you for having me too. I’m really glad to address this because not many people are aware—I’m currently studying Business and Office Management as I prepare for a large project launching later this year, which has been three years in the making. I’ve finally reached a phase in my education that’s freed me up to dedicate more time to music and other projects. I’ve been spending a lot of time in the studio recently and am working towards returning to a much more consistent release schedule

‘Animals’ marks Kryptomedic’s 100th career release. How does this collaboration with Skrimor take his sound into evolution?

Kryptomedic: This one came together really naturally. Initially, I was contacted about Mitra remixing a fan-favorite track of mine for another label. We got to talking, quickly connected, and headed into this collab—which looks like it’ll be the first of many. Sound-wise, Mitra’s absolutely killing it, so fitting the vocals in felt smooth and effortless. It was one of those moments where the vocals pushed the tune, and the tune pushed the vocals, creating a dynamic that elevated the final track to some serious fire.

The collaboration between you and Skrimor sounds finely tuned. Can Kryptomedic elaborate on your working relationship and creative process and how did you and Skrimor approach the sound design to achieve this atmosphere?

Kryptomedic: We pretty much share very similar visions and tastes. When it came to working on this track together, it became a process of sending bits back and forth—whether via email, Telegram, or whatever worked best. For this one, I put all my faith and trust in  Mitra and let him do his thing. He shared a few updates and different versions as the track progressed, but I didn’t have many suggestions because everything came together so smoothly with each session. It was one of those collaborations where everything just clicked and flowed naturally.

Kryptomedic’s vocals are a prominent feature of “Animals.” How did you integrate his vocal style into the overall production of the track?

Skrimor: I’m a big fan of Mike’s style, and I feel that the tone of his voice fits perfectly with my overall aesthetic. When Mike sent me the recorded vocals, they were originally intended just for the intro. But during the mixing process, I quickly realised that the vocals elevated the drop as well. It ended up sounding really dope—everything felt cohesive, like it was all from the same world. Working with Mike’s vocals was super smooth because he really captured the right mood and delivered top-notch quality.

What elements of the track do you think resonate most with audiences?

Skrimor: I think the entire track works as a cohesive unit, but for me, the vocals stand out as the most important element. They give the track a recognisable face, allowing listeners to connect and providing something memorable to hold onto. The tone, delivery, and phrasing shape the atmosphere and play a key role in defining the track’s identity.

Kryptomedic: I find that the drop is what really hooks you with this tune. The way the vocal verse in the build-up transitions into the drop creates a natural continuation, giving the track a seamless, hard-hitting flow that’s impossible to ignore.

With your extensive experience in the industry, what advice would you give to emerging artists who aspire to achieve similar success?

Kryptomedic: Work hard, really hard, just do you and do as much of it as possible and you will land right.

Skrimor: I’m not as experienced as Mike and others in my circle, but I can offer this advice: work hard, believe in what you do, stay true to yourself, and always strive for quality. Take your time with your craft. Music production is a tough and unforgiving career path, and beyond having immense patience, you need to maintain your own vision and establish a consistent daily routine. The winner isn’t the one who celebrates the victories with champagne—the winner is the one who does the tedious, routine work, consistently day in and day out, even when things feel dark.

How do you see the drum and bass scene evolving in the next few years, and what role do you hope to play in its future?

Skrimor: I hope the loudness war will finally be over—and honestly, I think it’s nearly there. My second hope is that Drum & Bass returns to its roots, with a focus on the essence of the genre. And, as always, I believe that ideas should take precedence over pure technical quality.

Kryptomedic: It’s been amazing to watch the growth of Drum & Bass from where it started to where it is now. Looking ahead, I just hope to see even more progress, especially as the genre is more well-known than ever before—not just as a style of music, but as a scene and a culture. If I can continue releasing tunes that people enjoy and that DJs love to drop or mix, I’ll be more than happy.

Finally, what can we expect from you in the coming months and will there be more collaborations together in the future?

Skrimor: I have a very busy release and booking schedule over the coming months. As for future collaborations… Yes, absolutely. I won’t tease anything just yet, but rest assured, I’ll be keeping myself busy.

Kryptomedic: In the coming months, you can expect to hear new music, as well as some of my side projects finally coming to light. I’m really excited to share them, and I’m looking forward to the moment when I can finally reveal everything.
