STATE OF DISORDER – WARLAND EP [ GUTTING AUDIO ]

This past weekend. Spain based label Gutting Audio & prolific producer State of Disorder, dropped a momentous amount of pressure. A two track EP called “Warland” is bringing dark funk back into the arena. If you aren’t familiar with producers SOD & Sirus, lets get acquainted.

After a semi-deep dive into their catalogs. I found there are more than a few releases that take us all the way back to the mid 90’s era tech step and dark rollers. Vibes that got me time traveling to the days where Grooverider, Dom n Roland & Trace & Matrix used to stomp the dance floors. With pure angst and post punk influenced dnb anthems.

The title track “Warland” is a collaboration with Sirus.  This one is a straight forward stomper. Comes in hot as hell. It flows on a nice and simple pallette. Keep the drums running, add some glitchy synths, pitched down vocals and some “cut the mid & drop the bass” bullshit. It’s easy to vibe on. Curls your bottom lip, drops your eyebrows and gets your fists clenched. This tune fucking goes!

Next up to close is “Moloch” . It holds onto the same dark body rocker theme. Yet exposes a bit more of a percussive jogging theme. There’s more vocal layering and a little going on in the build ups. But when this beast drops. Shit takes you all the way into the speaker cones. Relentless would be a nice way of describing the impact Moloch will have on the massive.

All in all, this release is the fucking truth! It’s not over the top with tricks and layers. I’m not walking away from it thinking that these guys were shooting for the stars and manicuring the design to hit anything but the bassbins. With a little attitude, a nod back to the originators, a smidge of swag & a fuck ton of filth. I guarantee this will get heavy rotation from the darkest dudes smashing the darkest parties for the darkest massive.
