Black Sun Empire’s imprint Blackout NL is back once again with a slamming EP from Markoman & Smooth’s project ” Telekinesis “. Setting the bar once again for over the top sound design and further progressing the neurofunk genre as a whole these two are not to be messed with. You can be assured Telekinesis tunes will erupt the dance floor and this time around is no different.
Starting off the Obey EP with the tune ” Listen ” sets the mood with a rolling drum pattern and echoing synths bouncing around the soundscapes . A faster paced progression is introduced and heavy amens slowly build in the background as the amens intensify into foreground. The tension is finally relieved with a vocal sample ” she said “. Leading into into a bubbly and very swinging beat with very carefully placed percussion playing to the melody of the kick. Another vocal sample introduced ” i said … listen ” as the bouncy synths compliment the ever changing drum pattern.
Overall i think this is another great release from Blackout and Telekinesis. Listen has the ability to proper smash up the rave into pieces as i would expect from them. Going in my bag for certain. The Obey EP is out April 15th at major online music retailers.
