Tension//Release [Demo EP] – Thrhythm

Every once in a while, you start writing an article about one of your favorite UK artists, and you stop midway because at that very instance, you hear some fire shit you weren’t prepared for pop off on SoundCloud, and in that brief moment of clarity, I was reminded it’s my integral duty as a journalist to give the people the heat they need to hear. And that’s precisely what happened… right now as I’m typing this.

Up-and-comer out of Las Vegas, Thrhythm released a demo EP that absolutely smashes the speakers in the chillest way possible, opening the soundscape with a tune of the liquid persuasion entitled “Run Fast” accompanied by recording artist Jesa, this tune is a real rumble to the jungle, guided by the voice of a forest nymph, featuring a variety of well placed synths and brighter bass notes giving this cut an all around light-heartedness making it easy to fall in love with to the very end… where the next tune “Lose Yourself” featuring SomethinSweet opens up with a passionately cinematic piano sample that feedback to a peak along side it’s vocalist, and then gets absolutely smashed with a bag of fucking bricks on a drop that rides down a nice little cut between Dancefloor and Liquid DnB giving it a perfect place in any mix to ramp up the party from a calm, which I found really unique because not to many DnB artist have tracks that can bridge itself from the latter. This showed me that Thrythm DID in fact make this a transitional album, confirming this with its key-blended third and final tune titled ‘WHO//ME,’ a Billboard chart topper turned remixed banger that’s palatable in any environment, whether you’re popping bottles in VIP or playing tracks between artists at the open mic.

The amount of versatility this release contains is an attribute I find quite impressive for the first shot at the genre. You can hear in the layers that there’s a complex music background behind the artist, and I’ll be making it a point to find out more details about the synthesis of his sound in the near future. For now, bask in the anonymity of the newly unknown in this absolutely brilliant piece of work, currently available on SoundCloud and soon on all streaming platforms.
