The Clamps – Strains [Trendkill Records]

0

The Clamps have been putting out quality releases for quite some time now, and this release on Trendkill Records is no exception. Strains has a very good blend of old school ideas and a fresh new input on neurofunk. The intro starts off with a simple synth that sounds exactly like an electric guitar fused with an organ, combined with an intricate and energetic drum pattern that builds up progressively towards a heavy drop.

The drop itself is composed of a nasty bass line topped with some fresh stabs that sound like sci-fi alarms, built in a bouncy pattern combined with grooving drums that hit right in the chest. The drop breaks down to give room for another buildup into the second part. Even though the second drop is the same as the first, it’s still just as powerful and engaging.
