Toez – Release Me EP [D-LiQ Records]

0

Another release from D-LiQ Records, this time from an artist who goes by the name of Toez.

Toez has been producing Drum & Bass since 1995 who never sent out his first demo since 2011. He has had releases on labels including Soul Deep, Stepping Forward, Smooth n Groove, Think Deep and Liquid Drops. His roots go back to 80’s Hip-Hop, House Music and early raves. He brings a style of Lo-Fi Liquid Funk, inspired by grooves ‘n’ vibes throughout the years and genres by people from DJ Premier and DJ Muggs to Mr. G, Black Loops, Roc Marciano and Intr0beatz.

The first track from this release is the title track ‘Release Me’ which starts off with some awesome bongo drums and a muted guitar which you can really feel the influence of hip-hop in which then drops into something you get the flavours of the early rave scene in with a simple yet effective drum pattern and old school b-line. The bongos intensify part-way through adding another level to the depth of this excellent liquid vibe. The vocal just adds another wicked layer to what is already a quality piece of music. The breakdown offers up the serenity of the intro but then gets you straight back into the summery vibes of the main tune.

The next tune is entitled ‘This is a Groove’ which brings you into the fore with a lovely upbeat synth, later into the intro a subtle break begins. The tune is beautifully laid back and brings an almost continental coffee shop feeling. The sun is shining as I write this and this tune fits the bill perfectly, I just want to lay out in the sun and have this tune on repeat as I crisp up in the UV layers.

A wicked release overall and I’m looking forward to hearing more from Toez soon!

You can grab this release on May 31st 2021

Absolute D&B nut! Love any type of Drum & Bass really but Neuro is my main passion. I got into D&B back in around 2004 where I started going raving, I then discovered heavier D&B in the form of Renegade Hardware nights in London which I attended almost every one for several years. Having developed my listening style with how the music has evolved I love the freshest tunes as well as the old ones! I've been mixing for fun since around 2005 and just love playing in front of people and sharing the music with likeminded people.
