Xsonsence – Cyborg – Boomslang [BSR008]

by | Jun 13, 2021 | Tunes

I received a nice little single in my inbox the other week from Xsonsence. I’d not heard of this artist before but have since found out he hails from Russia (these guys are really smashing the scene right now) and this release is coming out on Boomslang on 25th June 2021.

The first track Cyborg is a wicked techy rolling piece of Neurofunk. The intro leads you nicely to the drop which is just nasty. With a lovely little drum roll on the drop, the beat then takes you on a journey through a reecey wilderness with some added creepy samples which switch up half-way through. You then get met with a little half-time piece just before the breakdown. Nice touch, as you’ll often find these as the second drop which for me can mess up a mix if you’re not familiar enough with the tune. The second drop has more of the same as the first but adds some nice little drums over the top which just add that extra layer to separate the two drops beautifully.

The flipside of this single is named Origins. This has even more atmosphere which lets you know it means business. As I said previously, the Russians know what they’re doing right now. This track is much more of a roller which really gets the head nodding. I can picture dancing away like no one is watching when I hear it live. I’d love to be playing a warm up set and drop this to a crowd of hungry ravers who may not have heard it before. It would really get their energy levels rising for the following acts.

Really looking forward to hearing more from Xsonsence, keep up the great work!!

Absolute D&B nut! Love any type of Drum & Bass really but Neuro is my main passion. I got into D&B back in around 2004 where I started going raving, I then discovered heavier D&B in the form of Renegade Hardware nights in London which I attended almost every one for several years. Having developed my listening style with how the music has evolved I love the freshest tunes as well as the old ones! I've been mixing for fun since around 2005 and just love playing in front of people and sharing the music with likeminded people.
