Diode – Interruption EP – Dirtbox Recordings

What’s happening my D&B fam!?

This weeks article is on a swish release from the Dirtbox Recordings camp from the awesome artist Diode, named Interruption EP.  If you hadn’t heard, Diode is an artist who has been in the scene for more than 10 years and hails from Puerto Rico but now resides in the USA.

We are in for a treat here with this 3 part piece of art, that’s for sure!

First up, we have Don’t Interrupt Me which is a neurofunk banger and no mistake.  A theatrical intro which has melody, suspense and just about every other emotion rolled into it as it leads us with power to the drop of this absolute stinker.  The drop crashes you across the face with an amen break before pausing for a vocal to bait the beat as it slams in and you don’t know which way to turn.  It then almost gives you a second helping of the intro and drop shortly after which is like the reload you were crying out for.  Beast of a tune this one.

Next up we have “Racing” which starts you off with a kind of electronic, computer game style sampling and then relentless, pounding, techno style beat which takes you to the drop.  This one is a real chugger which has melody and funk about it, not to mention fast paced beats and dirty basslines.  The switch up is just obscene, make sure you stay tuned for that!

Lastly we have “In Silence” which has a beautiful piano melody and a wonderful vocal that takes you through the intro and definitely gives you the chills.  Once we get to the breakdown before the drop the mood changes.  You’re met with a real sense of tension and then provided with that vocal again before the tune takes your head off with a stomp that makes you want to smash your feet through the floor and bang your head off your shoulders.  Absolutely disgusting basslines and snares that you’d never get clean from.  This is an addictive tune and has be screwing my face up as I write this.
