Dunk & Rebel – 187 EP – Dirtbox Recordings

What’s up Besties!  Welcome back to the page with another article from me Strex this week.

This one is from Dirtbox Recordings, who you know I love to cover as they always bring the fire!  This release is no exception, it’s from Dunk & Rebel and is a 3-part EP full of fire.

So the first track is Body Bag which ties in nicely with the awesome artwork for this release.  It starts off a completely moody affair, ticking along the intro in a mysterious way as you draw ever closer to the drop which has a beatifully smooth bassline and some wicked stabs and subtle reece’s.  It’s a nice roller which offers plenty of grit yet quite a chilled tune making it a really enjoyable listen.

Next up we have The Grip.  This one has a kind of old school flavour to draw us into it.  A nice simple intro that gets you thinking before dropping into a techy number which isn’t far off being the sort of tune you’d hear when this kind of techstep was first around.  A really cool tune and a worthy listen with it’s meticulous production and raw sound.

Lastly we have Rocksteady, this time a solo effort from Dunk which starts off with quite upbeat drums and vibey synths.  You think you might be into something softer but when it drops it follows that raw sound and full of vibes.  This one is a real head nodder and has some amazingly produced samples throughout.  Really feeling this tune.
