Ahoy bassheads! This past week the legendary Dispatch Records dropped pure tension upon us. An absolutely filthy five track EP, from the likes of NC-17 & Philth. It is the third installment in this series of EP’s. Which continue to bring the darkness, the tech and rolling funk. Once again, this release hits on all cylinders, and its currently shredding the cones in my studio.

As always, I expect nothing less than flawless production, mixing and mastering when it comes to both of these gentlemen. The sheer amount of releases between the two, alongside their collaborative efforts. Defines legendary status on all accounts. Name a label that embodies the past, present and future of dnb. And you’ll see NC-17 and/or Philth‘s name in the discography. Each having a signature sound a vibe that always stands above a crowded field.

“Last of a Dying Breed vol.3” is a dark caldron of hiphop, dark funk and percussive badness. There is a bit of those seasonings in every tune. The amount of tension that goes into every build to drop. Keeps the vibe moving constantly. With consistent twists and turns within every tune. As a full release, it’s quite the journey in just a handful of songs.

In a time were the drums in drum & bass. Seem to be an after thought for a new generation of producers. The drums here are the sherpa guiding us to the summit. With an absolute bass bin assault coming from chunky, crunchy & incredibly rich low end. You can’t watch a tutorial on Youtube to know how to properly balance the drums and the bass in dnb. You know how it should sound, or you don’t. Consequently, these guys and this label are making music to annihilate dance floors and push sound systems to the limit.

I honestly can’t say enough good things about this release. If you’re a dj and this isn’t in your arsenal. You’re fucking up, BIGLY. The stuff that has been coming out on Dispatch is always top shelf. I can’t think of a single release that doesn’t fit into my vibe and what I look for in dnb. Being anointed with this EP is a blessing for the dancefloor & the culture. And I will be on this one for awhile!!
