PrayOneMe – Dust Rose Saloon/Witch’s Adobe – [High Resistance]

This week, allow me to introduce an underground DNB producer all the way from Moscow, PrayOneMe. The Russian artist has not always been all about Neurofunk or DNB, his first SoundCloud releases were mostly score-like cinematic pieces of music that later evolved into dance music then Drum and Bass. Needless to say, Russia is filled with super talented Neurofunk artists, it was practically inevitable for PrayOneMe as an electronic dance usic producer to eventually discover them and turn to the darkside himself. On the 18th of October this year, he released a two track single by the curtesy of High Resistance.

Dust Rose Saloon

The first tune introduces us the set of the tracks, if the cover art hasn’t already, the title and the track itself is quite possibly an homage to Burr Oak’s epic westren storyline. Being comparable to them is not a bad thing at all, he absolutely nailed it with the sound design and writing. Starting off with a classic, sinister western film-like intro, he is getting us right in the mood for some cowboy tomfoolery. Without a doubt, the drop itself is super heavy, I can only imagine how hard this one goes at the club, although what really makes the tune stand out for me is the layers. When we want to tell a story in an instrumental DNB track, sometimes drums and basses are not enough.
PrayOneMe uses atmospheres, “western samples” and soundscapes in every part of the track which I rate, because there is no loss in energy between sections, the transitions are always full because the instruments are placed on the back of a horse in the desert in the sunset, and it really feels like that!

Witch’s Adobe

After riding out from the saloon into the wild, looking for adventure, we are heading straight to the ‘Witch’s Adobe’. Sonically the two tracks are very much alike, however ‘Witch’s Adobe’ is more of a heroic, set closing, or transitioning track to me. On the other hand, the first one is something that makes you feel like the beginning of a dark and mysterious journey. Given that, the two track perfectly compliment each other. This release was a nice surpirse to me. Not only I found two tracks for my rotation, but I discovered a new artist, that I will look out for.
